Approximately twenty five years ago, my aunt gave me this camp stove after the passing away of my uncle. My uncle was the type that would buy two of most things he thought was good. Obviously his primary Optimus 8R never wore out. These Swedish camp stoves are very dependable. This one was never used.
The 8R is simplicity itself. It has no pump, and the only moving part is the gas valve. The stove depends upon the heat generated by the stove itself to maintain pressure in the gas tank. To light it, open the gas cap and using an eye dropper take gas from the tank and squirt it into the priming cup under the burner or squirt fuel all over the stove, it's all good.
Light it, and stand back while it flairs up. When the gas goes out the burner should be hot enough to vaporize fuel, and the tank should be warm enough for some pressure. See.....simple....minimal moving parts to wear out!
Not sure where to categorize this.....
