...with original Hayes' Patent Horizontal Circulating Boiler from the late 1880s.

Cast iron coal range I found in an old house about to be demolished (first photo).

Fully restored and converted to natural gas cooktop and electric oven. Perfect fit for the original wood stove alcove in the kitchen of the 125 year old mansion we're restoring.

Restoration and conversion work by Dave Erickson of Erickson's Antique Stoves in Massachusetts.

Johnson Peacemaker Coffee box.

Very cool 1 pound coffe box made by the Johnson Layne Coffee Co. in St. Louis, Mo. 1905-1915 ish. They were sold out of a tin display that looked the same as this. Though it looks like a log cabin, it is actually called The Country Store. It's amazing to see a cardboard box that's lasted that long.

I picked this up a couple of months ago at an estate/garage sale. The female I bought it from said that it was passed down from her grandmother and it has been sitting on a table for many years...she was moving across the country and didn't have room for it. I was very excited to get it, which worked out good (I would be very bad at poker :), because she wanted the hot pot to go to someone who appreciated it. Yes I do....I haven't used it tho. Was researching how to clean brass today, so far I've tried ketchsup...and then lemon. It does have some areas of tarnishing. I happen to think its pretty amazing...it has the most beautiful designs of fish and water...

I was also researching the official name, she had said something like Shiva, seeva,....I don't remember....

Advertising Mugs..... Advertising Mugs.....

Sadly, the OSU mug was made in China, but it's still a fine looking mug. I didn't attend The Institute, but acquired it afterward, and have kept it as a memento of my days as an Agricultural Diagnostic Microbiologist.

The Union Carbide mug comes from Niagara Falls, NY where UC had a facility. No more Union Carbide, no more Asbestos, and precious little chemical industry anymore in Niagara Falls. Another souvenir of different times!

This was a Buntingware production. The USA had a pretty large ceramic industry at one time.

Another thrift shop find..are people so jaded by the junk in Walmart that they dump family heirlooms like this piece?
The stamp on the mug shows it was made between 1883-1886. It was well cared for all these years as the condition is very very good with just some crazing in the glaze.

Hello Again,
Another purchase from yesterday. This I picked up at an estate sale at the house of the family that owned the ' Durgin Park ' restaurant, in Boston.
( I also bought a wonderful watercolor there, which I'll post tomorrow ).
This is a great piece, about 9+1/2" long, 5+1/2 " wide, with a flower at the top, a star, and the letters ' PEO ', ( I was wondering if the 'E' was actually an ampersand?).
Any ideas what the 'PEO' might mean?
I hope it rings a bell with someone.
Thanks,
Tony.
